Mid-Century Modern Coffee Table
This custom project was a special one, built for a close friend who wanted a clean, timeless centerpiece for their home. Inspired by Mid-Century Modern design, the goal was to create a piece that felt light and airy but remained incredibly structural and solid.
The Build & Materials
We selected Solid Cherry for this build. Cherry is a beautiful, warm hardwood that develops a deep, rich patina over time as it's exposed to natural light. To protect the wood while maintaining a natural, hand-rubbed feel, the table was finished with Osmo Polyx-Oil. This finish is durable and water-resistant but allows the natural texture of the cherry grain to take center stage.
The Details
The strength of this table lies in the joinery. We utilized a combination of half-lap joints and bridle joints to ensure maximum stability and clean, geometric lines. These traditional joints aren't just for strength; they serve as a subtle design detail that highlights the craftsmanship involved in every connection.
